Carmen’s philosophy is to provide a wide range of accessible and quality psychological strategies and therapies that will support improvements to your quality of life. Carmen’s focus is not to focus on diagnosis, instead works with you to explore how you adapted to your life experiences and how you might work towards change in yourself and your relationships.
Carmen’s counselling and psychotherapies ae underpinned by Systems & Trauma Theory. She believes it is important to understand that we are all interconnected with our family and wider environment and that what we feel, think and do comes from life experience and our past relationships and will carry through to future generations. Change comes with awareness of these patterns.
Trauma events happen to everyone in their lifetime. Whether you are traumatized or not however, depends on what supports and resources we have to make sense and deal with, and what we have experienced. Trauma does change the structure of our brain but the good news is neuroscience proves the brain rewires and is pliable (Neuroplasticity) and that we can heal from trauma
